Geopolitical tensions not as elevated
FXStreet (Guatemala) - Geopolitical tensions have notably eased and are not as elevated at present, which helped U.S. stocks that were up with the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index making it's largest weekly gain on July.
Markets had been concerned over the weekend in respect of a deterioration of the Russian and Ukraine situation. However, we arrived at trading desks this morning in the US without there being further events and positive housing stats also propped up a positive outlook for US economy. The S&P 500 scored a gain of 0.9 percent to 1,971.74, just shy of it’s all time highs. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 1.1 percent and finished at 16,838.74. The Nasdaq Composite Index was also gaining 1 percent by the close, and that marked it’s highest level since 2000.
