Tropical Storm Sally is forecast to become a hurricane on Monday

This week is essentially the peak of the hurricane season and the US Gulf Coast is on alert as Tropical Storm Sally is forecast to become a hurricane on Monday.

The storms are expected to reach shore by early Tuesday, bringing dangerous weather conditions to a region stretching from Morgan City, Louisiana, to Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

Market implications

Louisiana is in the top ten US states for producing oil so the storms will be on the watchlist for markets this week.
