AUD/NZD drooping near the bottom as Aussie Retail Sales loom

  • The Aussie continues to weaken against the Kiwi.
  • Retail Sales, BUilding Permits for the Australian macro calendar hit early at 01:30 GMT.

The AUD/NZD pair is continuing Tuesday's shortside action in the overnight market, testing near 1.0575 heading into the Tokyo session.

The Aussie initially lifted against the Kiwi in yesterday's trading, reaching a high of 1.0656 before sliding through the rest of Tuesday's action, hitting a low of 1.0568 before finding a floor.

Action for the AUD is tightening ahead of the Australian Retail Sales figures and March's Building Permits numbers, both due at 01:30 GMT. Retail Sales for February are expected to print at 0.3 percent compared to the previous 0.1 percent, while month-on-month Building Permits for March are expected to show a -5.0 percent decline, a sharp contraction from the previous reading of 17.1 percent.

AUD/NZD Levels to watch

With the Aussie continuing to decline against the Kiwi in the Daily candles, support is resting thin at yesterday's low of 1.0568 with further support from last week's bottom at 1.0540, while resistance will challenge any bulls from yesterday's high at 1.0656, with further resistance piling in from the 34-day EMA at 1.0690.
