Fed's Williams: "three rate hikes makes sense to me"

San Francisco Fed President John Williams was speaking over the weekend with comments from Reuters released in their article titled, "Williams paints benign picture of Fed rate hikes, strong U.S. economy", after a lunch at an American Economic Association conference in Philadelphia. 

Williams said that "the economy is doing great, everyone expects us to raise rates gradually ... and if the data change we can respond to that."

  • "I'm not worried about inflation suddenly taking off ... Something like three rate hikes makes sense to me" this year, he argued.
