US: Housing and industrial production data in focus - TDS

Analysts at TDS point out that it will be a reasonably busy day for US data, starting with the April figures for housing starts and building permits at 8:30 ET.

Key Quotes

“Markets are looking for starts to increase from 1215k  to 1260k, reversing about half of the 6.7% decline from March (monthly housing start figures tend to be fairly noisy), while the consensus forecast for permits is for essentially no change at 1270k (+0.2% m/m). Industrial production for April will follow at 9:15 ET, which we expect to fall short of market expectations with a 0.2% m/m increase (consensus: +0.4% for industrial production, 76.3% for capacity utilization).”
