Eurozone: ECB speak, services PMI and retail sales data due – Lloyds Bank

Hann-Ju Ho, Research Analyst at Lloyds Bank, suggests that in the Eurozone focus today will be on the release of services PMI and retail sales data in addition to the ECB speakers.

Key Quotes

“In the Eurozone, there will be limited attention on the final reading of April services PMI and March retail sales. The headline services PMI is expected to be confirmed at 56.2, the highest level since 2011, suggesting that positive economic momentum should continue into Q2. Speakers include ECB President Draghi, Praet and Mersch. The ECB’s Lautenschlaeger will also make opening remarks at a technical workshop on ‘Brexit’.”

“In the US, weekly jobless claims and March trade balance and factory orders are also due, but markets will be waiting for Friday’s labour market report, where we look for a rise of 200k in nonfarm payrolls.”
