Canada: CPI grows 1.5% annual rate in October

Canadian consumer price index rose 1.5% from a year earlier in October, Statistics Canada said Friday. This reading matched analysts’ expectations and comes after a 1.3% increase in September and a 1.1% rise in August. 

Core CPI, which excludes volatile items such as food and energy, rose 1.7%, below expectations of 1.8% grow. 

On a month-over-month basis, headline and core consumer prices both rose 0.2% in October, in line with expectations.
