BoE's Carney agrees to extend his time as governor by one year

Bank of England's Governor Mark Carney has decided to stay in charge of the central bank until June 2019, which means a 1-year extension, according to a letter that he addressed to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond.

Carney stated that taking term beyond expected period of Article 50's process "should help contribute to securing the orderly transition to UK's new relationship with Europe". Hammond said that he's "very pleased to hear that carney intends to continue as governor of BOE until the end of June 2019."

At the time of writing, GBP/USD is trading up 0.31.% at 1.2227.
