US equities extend gains after Fed minutes
The US equities extended gains after the Fed minutes release even though other markets have greeted minutes with a muted reaction.
Major indices have ticked marginally higher following Fed minutes release. The Dow Jones Industrial Average now trades 1.7% higher, compared to 1.38% gain seen ahead of the Fed minutes release. On similar lines, S&P 500 went from 1.46% gain to 1.69% gain. Nasdaq also extended gains to trade 2.3% higher.
Stocks received a boost as the Fed minutes showed policymakers feel it would be “prudent” to wait before embarking on any further rate rises.
Meanwhile, surging oil prices is also adding to the bullish tone around the equities.
