European stocks remain firm as earnings continue to roll

FXStreet (Mumbai) - Stocks across Europe remain firm as investors continue to digest raft of corporate earnings, but regional indices have eased off slightly from the session highs.

The Euro Stoxx 50 is up 0.32% at 3587, but has backed-off from the high of 3601. The energy, technology and industrial sectors held gains, but telecommunication, consumer goods and basic material stocks are struggling.

The German Dax is up 0.47%, while the London’s Ftse is up 0.82%. The UK index is buoyed by solid gains in the Oil and Gas index with more than 4% gains in BG group and Royal Dutch Shell. The pan-European Stoxx 600 opened 0.6% higher, but pared gains to trade near 0.2 percent by mid-morning.
