EUR/USD forecast: eyes on EU Summit – Commerzbank and OCBC Bank
FXStreet (Edinburgh) - EUR/USD has advanced to fresh tops beyond the 1.1100 level today, following the expectations for a deal between Greece and its creditors.
“Ahead of the expected stream of headlines today, we look for initial support around the 1.0995/00 neighborhood while the 55-day MA (1.1168) is still expected to cap for now”, suggested Emmanuel Ng, FX Strategist at OCBC Bank.
Furthermore, Karen Jones, Head of FICC Technical Analysis at Commerzbank, argued the pair’s “attempt to recover seems to have failed below the 55 day ma at 1.1168. The market has yet to overcome any resistance of note and as a consequence while capped by the 55 day ma at 1.1168 (on a closing basis) with our targets remaining to be seen at the 1.0819 May low and then the 1.0724 3 month uptrend”.
