Portuguese treasury secretary resigns
FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Joaquim Pais Jorge, who held office of Portugal's treasury secretary for only a few weeks, submitted his resignation on Wednesday. His denied his decision being motivated by recent controversies surrounding his previous position in Citigroup.
"I am leaving the government because we have very serious problems associated with the economic and financial emergency we are in and which have to be resolved," Joaquim Pais Jorge explained in a statement.
Joaquim Pais Jorge took over the position of treasury secretary from Maria Luis Albuquerque who was promoted to the position of finance minister in July, after the resignation of Vitor Gaspar.
