EUR/JPY gains after BOJ Monetary Policy Decision

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The single climbed higher against the Japanese counterpart as the yen dropped against the US dollar post Bank of Japan’s (BOJ) no policy change decision.

Currently, the EUR/JPY pair trade at 146.40, up 0.28%, near day’s high of 146.51 hit after the policy announcement. The Euro continued to trade higher against the yen, reversing losses seen in the previous session after BOJ made no policy adjustments leaving qualitative and quantitative easing (QQE) unchanged, that means, the BoJ maintained asset purchases under QQE to ¥80 trillion.

EUR/JPY Technical Levels

To the upside, the next resistance is located at 146.81 (Dec 17 High) and above which it could extend gains to 146.99 (200-day SMA) levels. To the downside, immediate support might be located at 146.24 (5-day SMA) and below that at 146 levels.

SNB imposes negative rates, ECB QE might weigh down EUR/CHF – Nomura

The Research Team at Nomura explains that SNB imposing negative rates was aimed at maintaining the CHF 1.20 floor, but probable QE action by the ECB in January might weigh down EUR/CHF.
